An oldie but a goodie

For about a month our digital camera was MIA. Luckily we had access to another one so we didn't miss any of the birthday or Christmas festivities.

We found our camera last week and I just uploaded the "newest" photos. The batch included one from a month ago that I thought was pretty cute. Here it is.

Christmas Dress Fun

While we got neither fresh snow nor Malia's second front tooth on Christmas, we still had a great one. Malia enjoyed opening gifts - both her own and others - and got some great new things to play with and wear.

Here are some of the 50 pictures (literally) that we took of Malia last week trying to get a good one of her in her Christmas dress.

She is putting a little acorn ornament in her mouth.

Running away from her photo shoot - ah the challenges of having a newly mobile child!

We are still working on teaching her modesty/etiquette for when she wears a dress.

I think she is saying "Seriously mom, I am done."

Coupe Car

Malia's Aunt Alli and Uncle Chris got her a coupe car ball pit for her birthday. At first she liked the balls a lot but wasn't into sitting in the car. But just a week and a half after getting it she is diving (literally) in and out of the car.

One of the funniest things about her playing inside is what happens to her hair.

I think she is losing her balance in this picture, not showing off her belly!

Steamboat Springs Part 2

On Sunday we went to this great "Cowboy Festival" which included free tubing, hot chocolate and cookies.

Andrew and I coming down the hill - don't worry we left Malia at the bottom with her grandparents.

Meeting Santa and Mrs. Claus

Add ImageMalia decked out in her snowsuit.

At least one of us is looking.

Malia liked her sled so much that she wanted to ride it indoors too.

Steamboat Springs Part 1

On Saturday morning we headed up to Steamboat Springs for a long weekend in the mountains. We had many firsts during our trip.

Malia's first time sledding.

Malia's first encounter with a camel (she wasn't that impressed).

Andrew, Chrissy and Malia's first time snowshoeing.

I just love this picture.

Mommy and Malia trying to warm up after snowshoeing.

Malia riding on her new sled.

I have so many more fun pictures from our trip but for now I need to go to bed so hopefully I will get a chance to post the rest tomorrow.

Malia's First Birthday!

Yesterday was Malia's first birthday. We had a great day.

The Birthday Girl!

Her proud parents.

Grandparents AKA Emmie and Pops

Her first cupcake. She wasn't so sure about it at first...

... but then she decided she really liked it.

Before we opened presents we had to give her a bath. Luckily Uncle Chris and Aunt Alli still had their party hats on for a picture.

Malia was surprisingly good at unwrapping her gifts.

Getting balls out of her new ball pit.

Going for a spin on her new wheels.

Our weekly trip to Chick-fil-A

Tonight we went to Chick-fil-A for dinner - we are going once a week these days to use up our 104 free value meals (I think we have only used about 12 now).

It is a great place to eat dinner with Malia because there are all sorts of kids around to distract/entertain her. Then after dinner she gets to go in the play place which she likes more and more with each week.

Gotta love the new walker with her hands up for balance.

A Few of Malia's Favorite Things

Malia is fond of 2 random toys right now:

1. A bunch of dinosaur figures that were Andrew and Erik's growing up.
2. A set of Taylor University coasters.

She will take one of these things, (usually) put it in her mouth, and walk around. Kind of strange, but we figure they must feel good on her gums. We're not complaining too much because it is encouraging us not to buy her toys.

Gnawing on the pink dinosaur.

These are the coasters. She'd offer one to you if you were nearby.

Birthday Cards

Malia turns 1 on Friday. Amazing and weird and great and sad all wrapped into one.

Today she received 2 cards in the mail. I decided to have her open them today since I am sure she will have plenty to stimulate her on her actual birthday. She helped rip the envelopes open and then - with some assistance - pulled out the cards.

Thanks Gee Gee, Papa, Just Bruce and Lilise for being so on the ball and helping to start the celebration early!

Malia in the snow

While Andrew and I were up in Boulder last weekend, Malia's grandparents took her out in her new puffy pink snowsuit to experience the snow. As you can see from the picture, she wasn't really sure about it - my read is that she couldn't move and therefore wasn't really into it.

This weekend we head up to the mountains for more fun in the snow - this time it might include a sled and snowshoeing. We will see if she likes either of those any better.

5 Years

Last Saturday marked 5 years of marriage for Andrew and I. Pretty amazing.

Here we are 5 years ago just a few days before the wedding.

And here we are on Saturday on our way out the door to our getaway weekend to Boulder.

What do you think? Do we look 5 years older?

Daddy's New Chair

The day after Thanksgiving Alli, Chris, Andrew and I headed out pretty early in search of some good deals. Andrew came home with a new chair for his office. We are all big fans including Malia. She especially likes it when Andrew spins her in it.

Smiling with her entire face - can you see that top tooth really trying to come through?

"Cookies" for mom

This is a special post for my mom. Wanted to make sure that there were some cookies in the jar when you checked today.

Here is Malia sporting the overalls you got her last Christmas and the cute outfit that she got from you this year. Everyone loves the pink gauchos.

Happy Thanksgiving. Love you!

(She is eating a pretzel.)
