One of Malia's favorite pastimes these days is standing. She cannot do it if she is not supported by someone or something but she is getting much better at balancing herself and more confident too (which is sometimes scary!).

One handed.

She is much more content these days playing with the exersaucer from the outside than she is from the inside.

Malia's not so happy face.

We took these two last night. Is it bad that she makes us laugh even sometimes when she is not happy?

Not happy after eating, waiting for mommy and daddy to finish dinner.

She really was happy and entertained by being in her toy bin when we first put her in.

It's a small world.

We know Andrew and Carrie Black because my Andrew went to church with them during high school in KC. We know Chad and Emily from our church in Orlando. Through a save the date magnet for Carrie's sister on Chad and Emily's fridge, we realized that Carrie and Emily grew up together because their dad's both worked for the same company.

Andrew and Carrie live in Tampa so the three couples have gotten together a few times in the past couple of years. Tonight we were together with our three kids for the first time. Malia is the oldest at 7 1/2 months, then Caden who is 4 1/2 months and then Avery who is 1 1/2 months old. It was a great time of connecting as new moms and dads.

Moms and babies. Of course we waited till the end of our time together to take a picture so none of the babies where all that cooperative.

Malia isn't the only baby who looks like her daddy. Caden Black looks a lot like his daddy too! And even though he is 3 months younger than Malia I think he weighs about the same as her.

Sitting up in bed

This morning when Andrew went to get Malia up from her nap she was sitting up in her crib. This was a first. After her second nap today Andrew went in armed with a camera in case she was sitting up again and sure enough she was. This time she had her arm stuck between two of the rails in her crib - I think she may have been reaching for the plastic bag that I packed some of her oversized stuff in - oops!

Note: The bag has been moved so hopefully that she will not get her arm stuck again.

Outta the Way

We have this steering wheel/car toy that says things like "Outta the way" and "Slow down little fella" (it is rather annoying but it entertains her).

Those phrases are pretty good descriptors for these pictures.

Crazy Hair

When I got Malia up from her early afternoon nap she had crazy hair. I tried to capture it but it is so thin and wispy that it was hard so I have to post a few pictures to try and show it.

She was in a good mood after the nap!

Aunt Beth Visits

My sister, Beth, came in town for a long weekend. It was a wonderful weekend with her - a nice break from thinking of the move and packing - and she was great with Malia. Here are a few pictures from our time together.

Malia's first time on a swing. She wasn't so sure about it at first!

Less tense in the swing. She did smile a few times during her time on the swings but not much.

Malia likes to hold her own bottle but she doesn't totally understand the process yet.

Beth holding Malia during her fussy time this morning. I was sure thankful for the extra hands.

Trip to IKEA

Andrew was great at keeping Malia entertained by letting her try out various products as we shopped at IKEA this afternoon.

Ridiculous Amount of Pictures

I felt like I hadn't taken any pictures in several days so I overcompensated this afternoon and these are just are few that I took.

Malia likes to stand against the couch.

Up close.

Watching the rain outside.

She likes to stand here too.

She loves that toot/pacifier.

I am laying on the floor and she is sitting on my stomach - funny photo shoot.

I told you it was funny.

I don't even know what to say about this one...

... or this one.

She accomplished her mission of getting the string to the camera.

7 Months

Malia turned 7 months old today. I meant to take pictures of her all day but only remembered to during bath time and right before bed.

Big girl bath - we just put a washcloth under her so she doesn't slide as much.

She loves her rubber ducky.

Almost bedtime - she loves to sleep these days which we love too!

Smiling at her daddy.

Free Chick-fil-A

Today is customer appreciation day at Chick-fil-A. If you go in dressed up like a cow then you get free food. I had these cow print babylegs that I bought for Malia a few months ago (in preparation for our move to a cooler climate) and so I just cut out some spots from construction paper for Andrew and I and we got free lunch! We are definitely going to make participation an annual family event.

Our cow family.

Malia really liked the cow.

This is her smiling at the cow.

Sometimes You Need More Than A Picture

Both of our frequent readers/viewers are well aware of the fact that we (Chrissy and I) take just a few pictures of Malia. And rightly so - she's pretty dang cute.

But sometimes single-frame, silent images just don't capture it all. Take, for instance, the scene recorded in the video below. You might need to turn your PC's volume up a bit to fully enjoy the footage, but it's worth it. All sounds are real - no effects have been added.

Oh, and sorry in advance for the shaky photog work. It's my fault - I simply couldn't hold still.

Cart Cover

When I was pregnant, I thought these shopping cart covers were silly, but I got this one from a friend and liked the fabric so much that I decided to keep it.

Now that Malia sits up really well, I decided to try her in it at Publix this morning. She seemed to like it although she wanted all of the food that I put in the cart up front with her so she could play with it. I kept her content with the bottle of cran-grape juice for most of the trip.

Food Feeder

This is one of the first gifts that we got for Malia when I was just at the end of my first trimester (thanks Aunt Alli and Emmie) and now a year later she is finally using it.

You put food in the mesh part and then babies can feed themselves without getting large chunks. We put a banana in it to try it out. She got the idea of it quickly (immediately she put the mesh part in her mouth) but didn't stick with it long enough to really eat that much of the banana. We will keep working with her.

Photo shoot with Micah

Micah, Tracey and Deacon came over for dinner tonight. We had told Micah beforehand that if he wanted to practice using his new camera on almost 7 month old girl, we wouldn't mind.

The pictures are so precious. Micah is so talented and we will treasure these shots for a long time.

Here is one to entice you to go to the picasa album. Note: These are just 23 of the 190 he took!

4th of July

We celebrated the 4th over at Chad, Emily and Avery's house. Malia was unimpressed by the Disney fireworks that we could see from their front yard. In fact, by the end I think she was annoyed with them but that could have something to do with the fact that it was past her bedtime and she just wanted to go to sleep.

Avery - 2 1/2 weeks old and still smaller than Malia was at birth. She is such a good baby though - so content - barely heard a peep out of her all night.

Malia playing Catch Phrase.

This girl loves an audience.

Her new goofy grin.

Malia: Seriously mom, why did I have to wear this outfit that was too small for me.
Me: I wanted you to be patriotic and besides the tag said 9 months.
