Belgiano Visit Part 1

Our house has been so much fun this week with the 3 Belgiano boys (and their parents) around.

Here are some highlights so far:
Rescuing a baby bunny that ran into our gutter drain. This is Taatjes (4).

Malia loves the boys and they are all very sweet to her. This is Trey (6) reading to Malia. He is a great reader!

Yesterday we went up to Rocky Mountain National Park. The kids all enjoyed hiking and playing in the water.

Andrew with the youngest Belgiano boy, Teague (2).

Malia exploring the great outdoors.

Another highlight, of which we have no pictures, is that Alli and Chris babysat all 4 kids on Monday night so the 4 adults could go out for dinner. It was such a treat.

Tough Girl

Our friends the Belgianos arrived on Saturday night to stay the week with us. On Sunday night we were up at our neighborhood park and Malia ended up taking a nasty fall and scraping her eye pretty good. She only cried for a minute and then was thankfully distracted by the 3 Belgiano boys.

Here are some pictures of it that night. The next morning she woke up and her eye was half swollen shut but it went down throughout the day and now she is just left with the scrape.

More on our adventures with the Belgianos tomorrow.

Waking Up From Naps

It is amazing to me what different moods Malia can be in when she wakes up from her nap.

Yesterday for example she was very quiet and somber. I think it just took her a long time to fully wake up.
And today she was a little ham - saying cheese for the camera and smiling like crazy.

Maybe she was just excited today because she knows that 3 little boys (and their parents) are coming to our house tonight and staying for a week!

Due to an unusual amount of rain this summer in Denver, the grass in backyard is slowly filling in. Unfortunately, this nourishing rain is also helping the weeds we inherited from the previous owners grow abundantly. We just have not been able to get ahead of them yet.

Lucky for us Malia likes to be outside and even is helpful with our weeding efforts from time to time.

ICRS - the big book convention

Last Sunday started the annual book convention. Lucky for us, it was in Denver this year so Andrew didn't have to go out of town - he did have to dress up and go downtown which was a change of pace from staying at home in his t-shirt and shorts!

Malia and I headed downtown last Tuesday with Aunt Kendal to see the showroom and to meet Andrew and Uncle E for lunch. Malia had a great time exploring and meeting some new friends. Here we are with a few.

4th of July (a little delayed)

I wasn't very good at posting while we were in Ohio earlier this month and haven't been good since we got home either. Truth is I haven't taken a picture of Malia all week - kind of makes me feel like a bad mother!

Anyway here are some from the 4th of July.

Malia with food all over her outfit.

An attempt to get a picture of the kids together. At least they are all looking.

It was my cousin Timmy's 30th birthday and his nephew Jason really wanted to have a pinata at the party. Malia's first shot - lets just say she really didn't understand the hitting part but was all about eating the M&M's that fell out.

The birthday boy taking a swing - adults had to swing left handed.

Cow Appreciation Day

Last Friday was Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A meaning that if you dress up like a cow, you got free food. We did this last year in Orlando and continued the tradition this year. Andrew and I were also dressed up but unfortunately we didn't get a great family shot.

Lotion Fun

We returned home on Thursday after spending 2 weeks in Ohio visiting my family. We had a great time and now are settling back into life in Colorado.

Yesterday Malia was playing with a little bottle of lotion and she got the cap off. I watched her as she dumped almost the entire bottle out on her hands and legs and tried to rub it in. I could have stopped her from exploring but it was one of those times where I thought the mess would be worth it (it was actually easy to clean up because I just took the excess lotion and rubbed it into my own skin). Anyway here are some pictures.

When I first noticed her this is what she looked like. Did I mention she is addicted to her pacifier right now? I think it is because she is getting teeth.

She was distracted enough by her lotion fun that she allowed me to remove the pacifier and I got this smile.

A closer look at her work - I guess it was good that I didn't get pants on her before she started this process!

Columbus so far

We have been in Ohio for a week now visiting my parents. Last night we had dinner with my cousin and his family. After dinner we went to this fantastic park. Here is a picture of Malia with her second (?) cousins Kristin and Jason.

And here are some shots from a different park that we went to earlier this week (when it was actually warm out!)
