Little Miss Blue Mouth and Pink Balloon

Because of Valentine's Day and the Father/Daughter Dance we basically took a good week off of preschool.  The girls did get to attend a friends Valentine's Party during that week.  I did not take any pictures at the party but after I captured....

Little Miss Pink Balloon.  (We left the party in fairly dramatic fashion as the girls were coming down from sugar highs and Davey let go of her balloon, I dropped a plate of cupcakes and I knocked over my friends porch decoration.  Needless to say we went back inside for another balloon to preserve the peace at our house).

Pencils: 2012 Edition

Recently Davey spent some time putting pencils into an ice cube tray.  I remember doing a post about these pencils awhile back.  It was actually almost a year ago and it featured Davey.  Go here to see how much she has changed in a year.  Amazing!

Father Daughter Dance

Last Friday night, I had the honor of helping out with our church's first Father Daughter Dance.  I was in charge of decorations and food.  It was very fun to flex my event planning muscles again and extremely rewarding as I watched dads and daughters of all ages enter the room for a special night together.

About 10 days before the event, there were only 28 people signed up but about 230 ended up attending.

I was able to reuse vases, branches and rocks from Alli's wedding to make these centerpieces.

My theme for food was red, white and pink.

Chick-fil-A also donated nuggets so there was something non-sugary (and not red, white or pink) to eat!

Andrew's dad accompanied Andrew and the girls so that each girl had their own date.  My biggest regret of the evening is not getting a picture of the four of them together.  I was a big busy when they arrived and then by the time I got around to it, Davey was completely done (probably coming down from a sugar high) so she refused to get in the picture.  Next year!

 I tried to bribe her with M&M's.  She just ate them and still refused to get in the picture.

  

Pink Princess

Anything that has to do with pink or princesses is Davey's "favorite".  This actually isn't anything new.  She has been obsessed with these two things for months.  I thought it would wear off after awhile, but it hasn't.

Here she is dancing in her "Ariel" dress, which is already falling apart from lots of love.  She called the pink bowl her "princess hat".

  

Sledding

While in the mountains last weekend, we got to ski with Erik and Kendal for a day which was lots of fun (sad to say but none of us had skied in 3 years).  On the day we weren't skiing, we took the kids (and their grandparents) sledding.

The Three Amigos

Last weekend, we went up to the mountains.  On our way out to sled, we stopped and tried to get a picture of the three older cousins (Tess was strapped to her momma).  I love all of these faces!

 

 

 

J Activities, Part 2

 We made some juice.  First, Malia had to count the oranges.

We learned a little about jellyfish and made one.

 Got out the mini sandbox for her to practice writing "J's" 

and she spent a lot of time playing in it with playdough tools.

 This was also deemed too hard.  So I put red food coloring in her glue 

and then she enjoyed watching the pink glue fall (a.k.a. her pink waterfall).

We pulled out our Pop Beads and made some jewelry.  

She was really into following the pictures in the booklet.  

We also talked about Jesus.  I gave Malia a nativity coloring sheet and she said "Mom, it's not Christmas."

J Activities, Part 1

While planning J week, I was having a hard time coming up with activities.  In the end, I managed to find quite a few and have enough pictures for 2 posts.

Andrew joined in a lot this week.  He starting by helping Malia with this jelly bean graph (COAH).

Then by playing Monopoly Jr.

Wheeling and dealing (and eating) while playing.

I found these curved jewels and thought a "J, not a J" activity would be great...

... but it wasn't.  Malia said it was too hard so she came up with her own version of sorting them by color.
