Valentine's Tea

The girls buddy hosted a Valentine's Tea earlier this month.  Here are the girls with their hostess.

There are several funny things about this picture.  Maybe most noteworthy is Malia's hair.  Sweet girl is getting more independent and I am struggling to let her, (especially in certain areas).  She loves to dress herself and on this particular day did her own hair which included two headbands and and a few bows. I wanted so badly to encourage her to just one headband or to at least smooth down the front of her hair that was all bunched in the headbands.  But instead I swallowed my pride, said it looked cute and let her go as she was.

Braids

Last week we were cooped up a lot since the girls were all getting over bad colds.  One day, I asked Davey if she wanted me to braid her hair.  We ended up putting a bunch of smaller braids all over.  She loved it and wore it for a couple of days.  She did not love me taking her picture with them in (big surprise!)

We changed up the do the next day by adding all if our pink clips to her hair!

Pre-K The Mitten

There are so many ideas on the internet for preschool.  I saw these printables to use with Jan Brett's The Mitten (here and here) and thought they looked really fun.

Malia had to attach the number mittens (1 to one) with the appropriate number of links.

Davey was around while we were doing this so I had her counting
the links and then she lined up the pairs from 1 to 12.

Malia had to look at the book and put the animals in order (1st, 2nd, 3rd).

We talked about syllables and she had to sort words from the story that had 1 or 2 syllables.

And we used these Read! Build! Write! Mats for the first time and I am a fan.

Father Daughter Dance

Last Friday was our church's Father Daughter Dance.  I had the privilege of helping plan the food and decorations again this year (which means I also get to be one of two moms allowed at the event!)

 Andrew with his dates.

The girls trying to do the Cha Cha Slide.  Priceless.

Chick-fil-a donated a lot of food.  This is 3 of 6 huge containers of food.
(Now you really know why it is one of my favorite nights of the year!)

And here are a few decorations.  My favorite thing I found were these cow balloons.

 Centerpiece...

 ... and centerpiece.

Pre-K J and K

I decided to combine J and K week as I did not have a ton of ideas for either.

During the week, Malia asked when we were going to do P week.  I asked why and she said she wanted to do a princess kit that she had gotten for her birthday.  We decided that since she was glueing jewels on, we could do it during J week!

 Her finished products.

I printed out number cards a long time ago and finally used them.  I had her try and read the word and then put that many keys on a keyring.

We talked about some "kn" words, did a worksheet about "know" and tied some knots.

We made up a game using jewels and dice.  She beat me every time!

I adapted this tape idea and we made K's with torn paper.  Davey joined us for this and it was fun to watch her figure out how to tear her paper.
