Pre-K N

We did not do many activities for N week, but I did (try to) introduce a couple of new concepts - nouns and the number line.

We talked about nouns and separated words into person, place or thing.

We played this number line game.  The first time we did it, we only went to 40 but after a few times of playing, they wanted to go all the way to 100.

I would like to say that game playing at our house is always calm but when Andrew plays...

... there is often some rough housing involved while they play.

We had a friend over and the girls spelled out their names and Naomi's (I love the backwards letters!)

 She sewed a N...

... and in the process had a lot of practice threading the needle!

You can never have too many clips

A few weeks ago, Davey sorted through our clip jar, found all of the pink(ish) clips and asked for all of them in her hair.  I was feeling like a fun mom that day so I said yes.  Little did I know that this was going to be an ongoing hair-do; she asks for all of the pink clips several times a week now.  Here's a glimpse of what it looked like.

Pre-K S

A few weeks ago, I made a jump to the letter S so we could do snow/snowmen.  It was perfect timing because we got tons of snow that week.

We made snowpeople out of felt.  Malia's went the traditional 3 ball route while Davey chose to have her snowpeople be made out of just one ball.

Part of this week, we were staying with Andrew's parents because he was out of town.  The girls helped Emmie make some cookies by rolling them in snow a.k.a. powdered sugar (I don't think we actually made any snow connection while they were making them, but it would have been sweet if we had!)

Emmie took the girls out in the snow and even stopped at the playground for a swing.

One morning, Pops served the girls a bowl of fresh snow for breakfast.

Back at home we made snowmen out of cottonballs...

...and the girls helped shovel the driveway with their new little shovels.

Making princesses

About a week after Valentine's Day (yes I am almost a month behind on posting some stuff!), I was at Target and came across a couple of princess/fairy Valentine's kits at 90% off.  I picked them up thinking the girls could do them next year, but Davey kept asking on the way home when we were going to make them.  So instead of tucking them away for a year, I let the girls do them as soon as we got home.

Davey was really into picking out feet, arms, crowns, etc. for her princesses.  She spent a long time and created all of her princesses while Malia created a few and then was done.

 I love these faces.

Rapunzel gets a haircut

Miniature princess dolls are a favorite in our house.  Rapunzel is the only one with real hair, (which has made her my least favorite).  Last week Malia decided it was time to cut Rapunzel's hair (it had most recently gotten her caught inside of a purse zipper).  So together we gave her a haircut.

Before...

... and after.  So much better.

Snow pants, no jackets

These pictures are from a few weeks ago.  We got lots of snow and then it warmed up a day or two later.  The girls went outside decked in snow gear and found it warm enough to shed their jackets which they thought was pretty cool.  Malia also thought it was cool to unbuckle one side of her bibs : ).

Estelle (and her parents) visit

Last weekend we enjoyed a four day visit from Estelle, and her mom, Beth, and then also got a day with her dad, Keith, (post-skiing).  Estelle is a sweetie and it is fun to a cousin so close in age to Naomi.

She is a great mix of Beth and Keith.

Here she is in what I dubbed her eggplant outfit.

And she fell asleep in this very uncomfortable looking position.

I have some fun pictures of Estelle with Naomi and with my other girls too but I am still not allowed to post pictures of Naomi.  Someday soon we hope.

Sort by color

Last week, I glanced over at our kitchen table to see that Malia had dumped out every crayon, marker, glitter pen, etc and had sorted them by color.  It looked really cool and I was impressed with the fact that she just came up with the idea on her own.  Here is what it looked like.

Pre-K M

We did some stuff in addition to the Mitten activities for M (3 weeks ago!)

We sorted money and talked about value.

We worked on this sticky mosaic (which is still unfinished
because she loses interest after putting on 3 squares!)

We used marbles to make estimates about which container had more/less/etc.

And then came the magnet fun.

I love anything magnetic (and Andrew makes fun of me for it).

The girls built houses for their magnetic princesses using an assortment of magnets.
Malia's is on the right, Davey's on the left.

Predicting magnetic vs. not magnetic.

And more magnet fun.
