Pre-K Solar System

I have been all over the board for the last month about how I should finish our Pre-K year.  I kind of got burnt out of letters and instead decided to just focus on a few different themes or concepts to finish out the year.

One of those themes was the solar system.

We did some 3 part cards to expand our solar system vocabulary.

We talked about the planets and their order.

We explored our sensory bin that had space astronauts, space shuttles, stars, planets, etc. in it.

We ate astronaut ice cream and ice cream sandwiches.

We got some great books from the library that had incredible pictures in them and we watched a YouTube video that helped us learn the planets names.  It was a fun week or so exploring this subject.

Chick-fil-a Hero

Early Wednesday morning, Andrew along with his dad, brother and friend set up camp in the parking lot of a new Chick-fil-A opening in Denver.  They had planned this for weeks.  What they had not planned for (until a few days before) was that a little cold snap, complete with a couple inches of snow, was going to roll in that day.  So my loving husband spent 24 hours in a tent in the bitter cold all to secure 52 free meal coupons to our favorite place.  Isn't he the best?

Swim Class

Malia and Davey started swimming classes a few weeks ago because the thought of going to the pool this summer with 3 kids hanging onto me did not seem feasible.

I showed up the first week and had no idea that they were supposed to have both swim caps and goggles.  By the second week, I had everything but was still unprepared for the challenge of putting the swim caps on my darling daughters large heads!  It was one of the funniest things I have done in awhile.  I couldn't stop laughing; the girls were not so amused which probably just made it funnier.

Last week, Andrew's mom accompanied me to the lesson and we were almost in tears at the process because there is something about it that is just so funny.  Don't know if this picture will make you giggle like it does me, but here are the girls before class.

Easter/Birthday Celebration

On Easter we got together with Andrew's whole family to not only celebrate Easter, but also Andrew and Alli's birthdays.  I have some fun family shots but we are still not allowed to post pictures of Naomi so I can't post those :(  Soon enough... we are hoping for an adoption date in May...

Here is a picture of Malia and Davey in the morning.  We hid puzzle pieces in eggs around the downstairs and they had to find them.  They loved this and I think we will definitely do it again next year.

As for the party, we went with an Amazing Race theme and had different challenges that our teams had to complete.  First we did an egg drop, then an egg balance race, and then an egg toss.

The egg toss.  Did I mention how gorgeous it was?

And just because here is a picture of the ladies.

Funny Davey

Davey is funny.  She makes us laugh a lot.  Who else wants to wear sunglasses indoor while looking through (the wrong end of) binoculars and being spun in the Bilibo?
