Davey and Pops

Two of my favorite pictures from skiing were of Davey and Pops. Davey had a humungous smile on her face every time she went down and Pops was often right behind her supporting her.

Skiing - Magic Carpet

One of the funniest parts of skiing was how natural the kids were on the magic carpet. They all acted as if they had been riding one their whole lives. No kid hesitated to hop on, or was conscious if there was an adult at the top to help, they just went.

Even Naomi had some fun on the magic carpet.

First riding up in her sled...

... and then on foot/her bottom.

Skiing

Last weekend, we went up to Copper Mountain with Andrew's family. Someone brilliantly suggested that we put the older 5 grandkids on skis. It was such a blast. We were all amazed at the kids' attitudes, perserverance and talent :)

The cousin crew (minus Ro).

Davey and Malia on their first runs. I love how these pictures show glimpses of their personalities... Davey is more carefree and daring. Malia more cautious and controlled.

More runs with Pops and Emmie. Andrew's parents helped the kids ski down so they could get used to it. So grateful for their help in teaching all of the kids.

T is only 2 1/2 but did so great. I was really impressed.

 Des taking a run solo.

A big smile from G after going off a jump.

Naomi and Ro weren't on skis but they were outside with us. Despite throwing a massive fit the first time we put her snow clothes on, Naomi quickly learned that getting all of those layers on meant she got to play in the snow. Rowan was such a trooper. He even took a nap in a sled at one point.

Ice Skating

Last week we took Malia and Davey ice skating. It was the first time for both of them and they really enjoyed it. Malia was more comfortable holding onto the outside wall and guiding herself while Davey was more bold and skated holding one hand with either Andrew or I. We all had a better appreciation for what the Olympic athletes do on the ice after our outing!

These boots are made for walking

I recently ran across some boots at Target for 70% off. I bought a pair of pink sparkle boots for Naomi, thinking I would put them away for next year. I should have known that our little shoe fanatic would not be able to resist them now! She has insisted on wearing the boots for the last couple of weeks. The best part is she often wears them without pants, because while she is pro-shoes, she is also anti-pants.

Father Daughter Dance

This year our church hosted its 3rd annual Father Daughter Dance and for the 3rd year I was in charge of all of the food and decorations for the event. I love that I have the chance to flex my event planning muscles once a year and seeing the girls with their dads is just about the sweetest reward for all of the work I put into it.

Andrew and his dates (we decided Naomi was a bit young to attend this year so she stayed with a friend).
There were only 2 moms in the room on this night. It feels like a privilege to witness and to get to be a part of the evening.

With some sweet friends on the dance floor.

E, Tess and Pops joined for the evening too. I unfortunately waited until they were leaving to take a picture so we have some crazy hair and grumpy faces (my girls)!

A special thanks to Emmie (who watched our girls while I set up) and Pops (who helped me refill drinks and food when they were empty) :)

Queen Malia and Princess Davey

I feel like I am continually revamping and changing how and when we do school around here. A couple of weeks ago, I thought it would be fun to have Davey join Malia while doing her Atelier Art. They were supposed to make Old King Cole and instead came out making Queen Malia and Princess Davey!

Diaper Dandies

I watch my neighbors son, T,  a couple mornings a week (in exchange for free preschool for Davey!) T and Naomi (or NeNe as he calls her) are so fun to watch together. Despite freezing temperatures, I couldn't help myself from letting them run around in their diapers a bit last week.
