The day after Christmas we got just enough snow to sled in. The girls (and Andrew) were thrilled! Erik, G and Tess joined us on the hill.

Naomi got a little sick of sledding and wanted to play at the playground nearby. After a bit, Davey joined the playground fun as well.

And Malia made this pretty great snow angel.

Pepperoni Bread and Surviving the Terrible Twos

Before Christmas, Malia and Davey helped me make pepperoni bread (which was a favorite of mine growing up).

We convinced Naomi to roll out play dough instead of real dough while we made the bread.

Speaking of Naomi, we have been encountering issues associated with what some would call the terrible twos. Our cute little lady has a strong opinion on almost everything... she wants Daddy to put on her jacket not Mommy (or vice versa depending on the hour), she wants this granola bar not the identical one next to it. She does not like to share much these days and is guilty of frequently sabotaging her sisters play. It is exhausting to parent all of this because it is so constant.

But she does have moments of sweetness and she definitely makes us laugh a lot. We have survived the terrible twos twice and are determined to do it again!

I mean how can we stay upset with this face?

Christmas Eve Eve Eve Lights

On the triple eve of Christmas, we went out and explored some local Christmas lights. I found a list here and went to the ones that weren't too far from our house.

Upon driving up to the second house, we realized that it was one to get out and walk around...

... the backyard was huge and completely filled with stuff to look at.

 Girls in the Christmas cutout.

Hanging out with baby Jesus and the Heavenly Hosts.

Pictures cannot capture this place. It was one of those "you have to see it to believe" it places.

Another house with lots of snowmen, santas and nativities.

One of our last stops had music instruments to play and Andrew could text in a color and the lights would change. Oh technology.

The afterparty took place at a local wing place that has Funnel Cake Fries. Yes they are as amazing as they sound. It was a low cost, memory making night for our family!

Gingerbread Cookies

Earlier this month Malia informed me that she had never had gingerbread cookies. So I went online and looked at recipes, but then came across a mix at World Market that was on sale (and saved me a few steps). We finally got around to baking them the other night and the girls were excited to decorate them.

I loved catching her eating the frosting and M&Ms. She definitely ate more than she decorated :)

Some of the finished products.

Estelle and Harriet Visit

Beth and Keith braved traveling with two young kids to come and see us a couple of weekends ago. Even though it is chaotic to have five young kids with five different schedules under one roof, I loved being with them. In keeping with our tradition of getting together this time of the year, Malia and Davey came down with a stomach bug halfway through their visit :(  Beth and I had high hopes of getting pictures of all five kids together but instead this is all I have...

Estelle and Davey doing a puzzle. Malia and Davey loved playing with Estelle (which might have made Naomi a bit jealous).

Harriet wearing her leggings on her head.

This sweet thing did not like to sleep at my house, but was amazingly pleasant most of the time.

And this is what happens when you try to force a picture of the five of them before they head off to the airport... just keeping it real here folks!

Dreaming of future visits where kids sleep well and no one gets sick...

7 Years

Malia hit the 7 year mark last week. I am still trying to comprehend how 7 years has gone so quickly. We had beautiful weather on her birthday and I was able to snap some fun pictures of her in our backyard (please excuse the dead grass backdrop!)

Our performer

Last week Malia's school put on a holiday performance. She was beyond excited about it and was super animated on the stage. We have a little performer on our hands!

Part of her fan club who came to watch.

Oh Christmas Tree

Last weekend we ventured out to the mountains to cut down our tree.

Alli and Chris brought donuts for all and Naomi picked the biggest one available!

These 3 spent majority of their time in the woods hitting dirt off of these roots.

Family with tree picture attempt. Our tree is very Colorado. It may look thick but that is only because it has three trunks!

After we had our traditional chili lunch at the local fire station and since it was so nice, the kids played outside for quite awhile. Joining our immediate Wolgemuth family was Makenzie. She is Andrew's cousins daughter and a great addition to our Colorado crew.

Malia's Birthday

We celebrated Malia's birthday a week early with a Frozen party with her friends. She picked her theme months ago and while I was surprised that she didn't change her mind (even after a couple of her friends had Frozen parties), it actually was a really fun and easy party theme.

Malia with her cake. I got the inspiration for her cake here. We already had the figures which was nice.

This was their idea :)

Davey and Malia wore their Halloween costumes (which corresponded with the theme) and when Naomi woke up from her nap and saw them dressed up, she asked for her butterfly costume which made me laugh.

Food spread. Malia wanted the food to be themed so we had frozen hearts, Sven's carrots, Olaf's arms, Olaf's noses and snowballs to compliment our pizza.

Our neighbor had a Frozen party a few months ago and passed along some things including this Pin the nose on Olaf.

Opening gifts with a captive audience.
