Tooth Fairy Visit?

Davey is 5.5 and hasn't lost a tooth. Sometimes this bugs her because she feels like she is the only one who hasn't.

I am not really sure how this all went down or exactly what it means, but we recently had an unexpected visit from the tooth fairy. This is what I think happened. Malia's friend gave her some Disney Princess Paper Dolls at the end of the school year. Malia had them in her backpack and forgot about them until a couple weeks ago. Malia forged a note from the tooth fairy and put it under Davey's pillow. Davey was thrilled at her gift and never questioned why the tooth fairy would bring her something when she hasn't lost a tooth (or why the tooth fairy was so bad at spelling).

This is hard to see but Malia definitely tried to disguise her handwriting. This leaves us wondering if she is on to us.

Some of the new paper dolls.

Steamboat Wrap Up

Sometimes when you are in the mountains you...

... are introduced to Spike Ball and come up with creative ways to play it.

.... are thrown in the pool by your dad, uncles, and grandpa.

... do gymnastics in the lobby while trying to escape a storm.

... race your grandpa through the hallway of your hotel.

... meet a nice man at the end of your hike who lets you sit on his horse.

... register your kids for a race before the parade and don't realize how long it is.

.... watch your kids put on a surprise birthday show.

... stomp on bubble wrap to celebrate our country's birthday.

... get lots of candy in the parade.

... see a fire breathing dragon when you go a couple hours early to the parade to save your family spots.

I got these fun pictures of my sassy Naomi at the rodeo...

Davey Lou

While in Steamboat, Malia wanted nothing to do with me. She was too busy with her aunts and cousins and grandparents to talk to me :)

I did however get some sweet moments here and there with Davey.

On one hike, we turned back early, which was super fun because she was super chatty.

And another night she let me snap this picture of her sweet, sun-kissed face.

Puppet Class

Kendal and I went to Steamboat solo because our husbands were on a business trip. One night we fed our kids popcorn, chips and eventually ice cream for dinner. They did not mind.

Before ice cream we visited the local library that was putting on a puppet class. Two Grammy nominated guys, The Pop Ups, talked about puppeteering and then encouraged the kids to make their own. It was a wonderful (and free) event.

I love how much focus Naomi put into this activity. This picture also shows the outfit she wore half of the week. Her gymnastics (aka 'nastics) with a skirt and a Superman tank and pink shorts underneath.
 With their puppets.

This was Naomi's final puppet (she didn't want to be in the group shot). Lots and lots of pom poms!

Steamboat Creek

Steamboat has a great creek that was a short walk from where we were staying. Between this and the pool, our kids were very entertained during our week there.

Upstairs Circus

For Christmas this year, we ladies were gifted a trip to Upstairs Circus, a cool crafty space in Denver. A couple weeks ago, we finally redeemed our gift. It was a great night out with some of my favorite women. We had a lot of fun doing nail art.

There were many options for patterns. The word "Joy" really stuck out to me. Feeling weary of the moving process and uncertainty of what the next few months hold for us, I need the powerful and daily reminder that I need to choose joy instead of worry. Joy instead of frustration. Joy instead of anxiety.

Servants Day

My kids are terrible at chores. Every day I have to remind my older girls multiple times to do even the simplest things like get dressed, brush their hair and teeth, etc. This is why I was pretty surprised when they came up with what they called "Servants Day".  The idea was that they would team up with their cousins and do chores at their grandparents house.

Andrew's parents hosted one Saturday and the kids worked all morning. Here they are breaking for lunch.

National Donut Day

I just uploaded some pictures that were sent to me on my phone... so I am going to backtrack from before our mountain trip for awhile.

On National Donut Day, Kendal and I were trying to have a garage sale (it was a big bust). The good part was that Emmie and Pops came by and took all of the grands to Dunkin Donuts to get donuts.

I think they enjoyed it!

The Mountains

We just returned from a week in the mountains with Andrew's family. We had a great time. Lots to catch up on back home (including finding a house still!), but wanted to post these pictures tonight.  Davey and her cousin Tess had a sleepover in one of the rooms and decided to sleep in the same twin bed (there was another twin bed just 3 feet to its side). I didn't think it would last, but somehow they pulled it off and looked ridiculously cute doing so.
