Paddle board Fun

Last Sunday we went to the reservoir with some good friends. The kids loved exploring the sand and the water. Their favorite thing though was using our inflatable paddle board (that we got for free to review a couple of years ago). They used it in lots of unconventional ways. My favorite was when they figured out a way to have all six older kids involved... if you zoom on this picture you will see three on the paddle board, one kicking off the back, while they tow two on the tube.

Sometimes the neighborhood pool is closed for the day and so you have to go back home and run through a good old fashioned sprinkler to cool off.

Hiking around Rabbit Ears

Earlier in July, we spent time in Steamboat Springs. One morning we hiked up around Rabbit Ears Pass. It was a gorgeous day and I spent a lot of my time trailing behind with my very curious hiker, Naomi. It was hard to be mad at her for her pokey pace because she was delightful and inquisitive and taking in all that was around her.

Circle Sticker Art

I had a bunch of circle stickers of various sizes and colors. I gave them to the girls and challenged them to create something with them. Here is what Davey and Naomi came up with (I don't have a picture of Malia's).

A couple of weeks ago, Davey chopped her hair off... 10 inches to donate.

Build and Grow

Andrew has been taking the 3 girls to Lowe's Build and Grow pretty consistently over the last several months. Recently he was out of town on the weekend (super rare) and so I had to be the parent who guided the girls through assembling and nailing the project.

I can't say that I got it right the first time, but I did manage to successfully help Naomi and Davey do theirs (Malia wanted to wait until Andrew came home). Here are the pictures we sent Andrew.

Finding Dory

After the boys went back to their regular foster home, we were all a little disoriented. I decided we needed a little family fun, so we went to see Finding Dory. It was Naomi's first movie in the theater and a fun treat for the rest of us.

Respite Care

We recently had two foster boys in our home for 10 days. It was an intense and sweet, simple but complicated, stretching but joyful, exhausting and exhilarating time for our family. It confirmed that we feel called to continue on our foster/adoption journey by helping out with short placements.

The last night the boys were with us, we ventured to the museum. Here they are with Drew and it gives you a glimpse of what that 10 days was like!
