Doctor Smootchinizer

We did spend a lot of time at home in January. Sometimes I worried about the kids being bored, but as a lot of people will tell you, boredom is good for kids.

One day, it resulted in the creation of Doctor Smootchinizer and his associates.

Nature class and donuts

Although it has been a cold month, we have not had a lot of snow. And on the snowiest day of January, I had Malia and Davey signed up for a nature class with some friends on the other side of town. It took us awhile to get there because roads weren't great but they ended up having a great day exploring in the snow and creating snow animals.

The three younger kids and I treated ourselves to a stop at Krispie Kreme after dropping the older girls off... technically Naomi needed to use the bathroom and that is why we had to stop but I managed to have her hold it about 10 minutes... because if I had to get the littles out of the car, in the snow for a bathroom stop, it figured it might as well include donuts too.

Wild Man Snuggles

Drew is a wild man. Because of cold temperatures, we have been stuck inside for so much of January  and I have missed the chance to let him run outside to burn some of his energy.

He does still love his nap and usually gets pretty snuggly. Here we are taking some selfies before nap one day.

June, our niece

Before January even began, we got to meet our new niece June. Just a few hours after her birth, all 7 of us crammed into her hospital room to sneak a peek at her (good thing her parents aren't germaphobes because I am sure we exposed her to some in the wee hours of her life).

Drew was so into her. She officially replaces him as the baby of the extended family. And Naomi may have been more interested in the snacks that the hospital offered than holding June.

January

Where has January gone? It has felt like a busy month and at the same time it feels like we have barely left the house. We have been to Options, preschool, gymnastics, the library and church every week, but getting out with 5 kids is not an easy deal! We have averaged 3 visits a week in our home by caseworkers, lawyers and therapists as we continue to have little "R" with us, so that has forced us to stay home quite a bit too.

My parents came in town to be a part of Drew's dedication, but someone was sick almost the whole time so no pictures were taken :(

I will attempt to share some pictures of our January happenings in the next few days...
